Casa-de-Brawn (where it all started)

Ahh~ Casa de Brawn, that name (and place) will live in my heart, as well as those who survived it. It initially was a place where all my friends and I could hang out and get away from it all, but it turned into so much more.

In time, it became the place where I learned how to truly hone in on what was to become my life and future career. Brawn Graphix Design Creations. Its where I first learned to create, where I broke free from the grid, and where dreams become things. I proved that time and time again there.

See when I moved in there five years ago, it was nothing more than a place with bare walls and a cold spanish tiled floor. And little by little I built it to be what it became, passion. For some, it became a place of inspiration, to others it became a bekon of imagination and fun, And for even others it became just a place you could kick off your shoes and relax for a while, leave your troubles at the door and forget all your worries behind you, (and yes, for even others it became a place you could get drunk and fuck in the bathroom when you thought you weren’t gonna be missed-No names). But whatever it became, it did so with one thought in mind. Nothing became impossible.
Everyone who I knew when I first began to put it together and whose still with me now takes with them great time within its hollowed walls. And that’s what it was really all about. I created it for my friends who all originally met @ Nationals (Memba’ Nationals?)and needed a place to go when they closed their doors for the last time, we needed somewhere to go and check the world at the door. And it became even more as time when on.
Casa de Brawn will always hold a dear place in my Art and Soul, because it all began here. Anyone who knows me and has been in it, know just how special this place was…It was where a shmoe with a big imagination created an entire universe while sitting in his boxers at his desk, in his pirate themed office day and night till it all made sense. A place where friends became family, and nothing was ever impossible. Like I said, I proved that here time and time again. And I take it’s history with me. (Thank Gawd these Frickin’ walls can’t talk!) Here’s a bit O’ trivia, Why a pirate themed office??? ‘Cause just as I tried so very hard to do, pirates were renagades who lived their own way and carved their own journey, never following the standards… Now you know (Thanks Nan).
But I’m not sad when I look back, I mourned this place for a minute, till I realized something… I wanted more than this. And in order to get it, I had to go out into this big bad world and take it for myself! This will always be the place where it began… And even though it eventually saw its  end, I think my wife Nancy put it best… “It’s only the end of the beginning”… And it was then it hit me, she’s right. I needed to move on, and it wasn’t about the world ending… It’ had only gotten bigger, cause I took it with me and  as well had to take it to the next level. That being said, I wanna thank  (the Usual Suspects)

those who have been there and enjoyed it, cause I know I did. I love you all. Even (and especially the “wicked ones”)…
Years later, we  can still look back,  like we did after the days of the National’s end, and say… “Remember Casa de Brawn?” I raise my glass…
Cheers to you all,
~Geo

I remember taking one last look at the empty space that was once my castle and shutting off the lights one last time and thinking in the end, it was all worth it… I tell you Kiddies, I own my own business doing what I love, I’ve authored and visualized two graphic novels and five comic previews and I can tell you this much, I was never so happy to have been right.Don’t EVER give it up!!!
