Are you there Hef? It’s me, Geo…

A Message to my Hero…

Dear Hef,
I’m writing you today on the heels of renewing my monthly subscription to Playboy Magazine. Now I haven’t done so in a few years, which got me to thinking why? After all I’ve collected Playboy since forever really. Hell, going back to even being a second generation reader from my Dad’s era. So why did I stop you ask?
Well, I could say it’s due to a bad economy and the need to cut back on even basic entertainment is just a must. But looking back I think it was because the overall quality wasn’t what it used to be… I remember a time when there seemed to be a certain style and class about Playboy that I feel really set it apart from other adult magazines. There was an art form to it that Hustler and Penthouse never seemed to have. There was a beauty to the feel of each and every issue. Something said more to the reader than here’s a naked woman spreading her legs. The idea of the girl next door being seen in her purest form, nude. And the girl next door being not just sexy, but also sensual. Now I know times have changed, hell the porn industry has become mainstream, let’s face it. And I not only believe that the industry has it’s place in society and free speech, but am a fan, and have worked with and known my share of porn stars, models, and the like. But even Playboy TV seems to have become all about the porn stars, and I liked it much better when it was about the lifestyle of Playboy and the centerfolds that made it great. Even the class of celebs who pose are lacking quality. I mean really? Is this the height of the celeb “A-listers” today? I think not, Sir. I come to you as a long time admirer and follower with these concerns of quality. We need class, and a style like no other to set Playboy apart once again.

(And please, don’t get me started on the celebs who we actually want to see in Playboy and expose little more than a bare belly button in their pictorials. It’s a waste of a good tree.)

I’d be remiss if I didn’t of course add to this blog my favorite of all playmates and the runners-up that follow…

#1 Miss July 1989 Erika Eleniak – My favorite playmate of all time! Her features were flawless in my book!!!

#2 Julie McCollough – Again we see angelic features complete with a killer smile!

#3 Miss July 1994 Traci Adell – She personified the term tall, dark, and gorgeous!!!

And an honorable mention to Playmate of the Year for 1981 (and former Hef girlfriend), Miss Shannnon Tweed!!!

So here you have it, Sir. I am a second generation fan to this day, who loves what Playboy stands for and its history. A fan who would love to go to the Mansion for your annual Halloween Party! (hint, hint) Its longevity from its humble beginnings is a testament to not only the creative process but also the American Dream itself! I’m following that same path, Sir, and I have to tell you, there isn’t a thing in this world quite like following your own dream, your own path. I’ve never looked back on this great adventure!

And in no way would I tell you how to run an enterprise as huge as Playboy. All I’m sayin’ is in this modern age that puts an emphasis on the visual and less on the overall quality, I feel that there should be someone out there who should stand up for quality and substance in a world that has seemed to have forgotten all about it. I figure who better to show the world than the man who in my opinion has made a career of it – nay, who started it all. I thank you for your time Hef, and for the many years of great Playboy moments. I’m hoping to see them again with this subscription.

Sincerely,

Geo
